Hi, I’m Yilei Zhong. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Space Robotics from the School of Astronautics at Northwestern Polytechnical University(NWPU). I am currently a Research Assistant at the MINT-Lab, School of Artificial Intelligence, Shanghai Jiao Tong University(SJTU), focusing on Embodied Intelligence.

In the academic context, I have a strong interest in researching embodied intelligence systems that can reason and predict based on physical world knowledge, faithfully follow human instructions, and execute actions with high precision. At present:

  1. I have conducted broad and in-depth exploration in the field of Vision-Language-Action(VLA) models.
  2. I have accumulated a certain level of experience in traditional robotics-related fields (e.g., MCUs, robotics, and control theory), which has laid a solid foundation for my future research and exploration.
  3. I am highly interested in embedding physical principles into robot manipulation models in a more principled and effective manner. I am currently conducting systematic investigation and preliminary explorations along this direction, and hope to further pursue research on world-model-based robot manipulation, as well as the fundamental challenges of robotic manipulation in contact-rich scenarios.
I believe that embodied intelligence will become an interdisciplinary field that integrates strengths across multiple research domains while ultimately serving human-centered needs. Building on prior work, I aim to integrate these technologies into a coherent research framework and to explore the broader potential of embodied intelligence.

Academic Goals

Understanding how complex systems work has always been central to my academic motivation. I am particularly interested in grasping the big picture while engaging deeply with technical details, tackling challenging and underexplored problems, and integrating cutting-edge techniques across multiple disciplines into a coherent research narrative—ultimately aiming to contribute meaningful, milestone-level advances to the field I am passionate about.

With this long-term objective in mind, I am currently preparing for and applying to PhD programs in Embodied AI for Fall 2026 and 2027. During this process, I look forward to opportunities to engage with faculty members and fellow researchers in the field.
